He was born in Wuerzburg, Germany, studied at the Vienna Academy and started exhibiting in 1816. Like the famous artist Fueger, Goebel was a typical representative of the Viennese Neoclassical style. He died already at the age of 32, and therefore his works are very rare in the art market, but belong to collections of the Austrian National Gallery and other museums.
