Grigori Petrovich Troyan was born in 1925. He studied at the Art Colleges of Krasnodar and Odessa, for a long time was a pupil of Nikolai Nikiforovich Gusachenko in Nalchik (Caucasus). After the Second World War the artist lived in Nalchik and Kislovodsk and from 1949 in Lvov, where he became a member of the Ukrainian Artists' Union. Troyan regularly participated in town, regional and republican exhibitions.
