Berthold Loeffler was born in 1874 in Niederrosenthal, Bohemia (now Czech Republic). He studied under Franz von Matsch and Koloman Moser at the Vienna School of Applied Arts and for a long time was a professor of the same School. In 1902 he founded a workshop "Wiener Keramik" together with Michael Powolny. B.Loeffler was also a popular painter of frescos in various Austrian churches (among them in hotel "Richard the Lionheart" in Duernstein). *Povenance: artist's estate, Patrik Kovacs Gallery, Vienna.
