He studied at the Vienna Academy under F.Rumper and from 1898-1902 at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under F.V. Myrbach and again at the Academy under Willinger. He began exhibiting in 1913 at the Vienna "Secession" and was member of this artist group until 1938. He was also very known as an illustrator.
