This small pastel portrait of a young lady formerly belonged to the collection of a Russian noble Lady, who fled after the Revolution from St.Petersburg and after some years in various Balkan and European locations settled in Prague. Her Czech relatives inherited the portrait after her death in the 1970s and our gallery acquired it from their estate in 2005.
According to family legend, the sitter was the grand-grand-grandmother of our Praguer old Lady. Unfortunately unsigned , this nice pastel miniature could be a work by a Russian artist from the circle of the famous Borovikovski or by a foreign artist working at that time in Russia (Alexander Molinari ?).
