Acquired together with a group of drawings and watercolors by Austrian artists, including an album of the sitter's brother (and nephew of the drawing's author!), Anton Malanotti. Both brothers were members of a provincial noble family.
Anton Petter (1781 Vienna - 1858 Vienna) was a well known Austrian historical painter. He studied at the Vienna Academy. In 1808 he went to Rome. In 1823 he became a professor at the Academy of Vienna, and in 1829 - Director of its Painting and Sculpture School. His works can be seen in most esteemed Austrian museums.
