Charles Hermans studied in 1858-1861 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and lived in 1862-1866 in Italy. He was later active in his native town Brussels as a well-known genre and historical painter. He exhibited regularly at the greatest international exhibitions. Works by Charles Hermans are displayed in various museums of Belgium and abroad.
