According to the most recent biographical information provided by the artist dictionary "Saur", Johann (not Nicholas) Gottlieb Baerenstecher was born in 1768 in Ludwigsburg and died in 1801 and not after 1808 as in Schidlof and Thieme-Becker) in Nuremberg (he was buried in the tomb of Albrecht Duerer at the cemetery Johannesfriedhof).
