Carl (Carl Constantin Heinrich) Steffeck (1818 Berlin - 1890 Koenigsberg/Prussia) studied at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts and in 1837 became a student of the famous Franz Krueger, called by his contemporaries "Pferde-Krueger" (in English "Horse-Krueger") for his horse paintings. From 1839 he also worked in the studio of Carl Begas.
