Round ebony box with gold mounting containing in its lid a wonderful portrait miniature on ivory of a young lady with "au couo de vent" hairstyle, in white empire gown and with evening riverscape in the background. With a very great possibility it is a work of well-known French miniaturist working at the turn of the 19th century, Marie-Nicolas Ponce-Camus (1778-1839; see our images nr.10-11 with extensive biographical information; see also other works of his in our possession.
