Johann Michael Weixlbaum or Weichselbaum (1752 Lichtental by Vienna - 1840 Vienna) studied at the Vienna Academy between 1763 and 1768, and worked as a painter of figures at the Vienna porcelain factory. In 1784 he returned to the Academy to refine his skill and became there a pupil of Fueger. This allowed him in 1797 to become the "Obermaler" of the Vienna porcelain factory. Weixlbaum also painted in oils and on enamel. According to some sources, he is believed to have settled in Lemberg (now Lvov, Ukraine) in 1812, as a miniaturist and painter on porcelain. Yet again, after some time, he reappeared in Vienna and worked there.
