Louis Alexandre (1759 Ecueil, Marne - 1827 Reims) was a miniaturist of distinction and - as Schidlof says - "until know unknown by the general public because of scarcity of his works". According to Nathalie Lemoine-Bouchard (see image nr.10), he studied drawing in Reims. Then he studied at the Academie Royale in Paris. In 1800 he exhibited two miniature portraits at the Salon. In the same (1800) year he was mentioned in the livret (registry) of the Salon as a pupil of Francois Dumont. *We are very grateful to Dr. Bodo Hofstetter for his generous help.
