Acquired together with our web # 36189 and # 36190 from the descendants of the sitter's elder brother Karl Heinrich (today, the family is living in the vicinity of Aachen, Rheinland-Westfallen, Germany), it is a portrait of 13-year-old Friedrich von Görschen, Ritter (Baron) von Auligk (1788-1847), future chamberlain and successor of his father as chief-forester in the Duchy of Anhalt-Dessau.
The old legend on verso of this portrait, as well as (discovered on the Web) genealogical information (see images nr.8-9) provide the exact dates of his life: he was born on the 19th of November 1788 in Dessau and died in the same town on the 4th of October 1847). The legend also offers the names of his parents and wife.
The miniature is signed and dated - "...Schorn /1801". It means that we are dealing here with a work of listed Saxonian artist from the turn of 19th century, J. Schorn.
