Alfred Waagner (1886-1960) "Spring of Life", Large Painting, 1921 30000 EUR This monumental painting was made by its author - Viennese artist Alfred Waagner - under strong influence of works by his famous town-fellow working a few years prior, Gustav Klimt. Alfred Waagner (1886 Vienna - 1960 Vienna) was a very well known Austrian painter, illustrator and Art and Crafts artist. From 1905 to 1907 he studied chemistry and mechanical engineering at the Technical Institute, but soon turned to the arts. In 1907, he became a pupil of the famous Viennese Art Nouveau artist, Professor Berthold Loeffler and worked in his studio at the Vienna School of Applied Arts until 1912. He debuted as exponent in 1913 at the Vienna Secession and regularly exhibited with its (and other) artists' groups in Vienna and abroad. In 1924, Waagner's first personal exhibition took place in Vienna. Our images nr.13-16 show several other works of this artist.
