# 36426 Hippolyte Chapon "Group portrait of four little brothers and sisters", large miniature, ca. 1830 Price: 3000 EUR (please note additional 10% tax applies for transactions concluded within the European Union) As our image nr. 8 shows (by the same hand, very similar and signed (!) miniature on ivory) this group portrait of two little sisters and their two little brothers is as we are absolutely sure an authentic work of the well-known Swiss-French miniaturist of 1st half of 19th century Hippolyte Chapon. Hippolyte Chapon was born ca. 1790 in Switzerland. He is first mentioned in 1817 in Paris as "peintre en miniature et Cent-Suisse du Roi" ("Cent-Suisse" was a "Swiss Hundred Guard" engaged by the French Court - see our image nr.12).
