Leon Victor Dupre was a very well-known French landscape painter of the 19th century. He was born in 1816 in Limoges and died in 1879 in L'Isle-Adam. His father, François Dupre was the owner of a porcelain factory; his elder brother, Jules Dupre was a renown painter, who also became his teacher. He and his friends, also artists living around L'Isle-Adam, all belonging to the famous "Barbizon School" strongly influenced young Leon Victor.
