Signed "Monnier fecit 1813 á Lille", this miniature on ivory is a work of artist Monnier, who is briefly mentioned by Mme Lemoine-Bouchard in her book "Les peintres en miniature actifs en France, 1650-1850". In short, she notes that he was mentioned as active in the city of Lille between 1798-1808 as "citoyen Monnier", a portrait miniaturist and medallist and an exponent at the Salon de Lille in 1798 ("cadre de miniatures"), 1799, 1805, 1806 and 1808. In 1805-1806 he lived on rue Rosses Neufs, No. 1089 in the same city of Lille.
