This, resurfaced in June 2018 in Vienna antidue trade miniature by August von Medvey (see his boigraphy below) is exactly that original, after which Vienna lithographer Josef Kriehuber mage in 1842 his lithographic portrait of high-aristocratic Austrian lady - Anna, Countess von Harrach, nee Princess von Lobkowitz (see our image nr.8). Till today author of the original portrait was unknown..

The sitter, Anna (Anna-Marie-Theresie), Princess Lobkowitz was born on 23 Januara 1809 in Vienna as a daughter of Prince Joseph von Lobkowitz (1772-1816) and his wife, Princess Caroline von Schwarzenberg (1775-1816; as we see Anna lost both parents as she was only 7). On May 29, 1827 she married in Vienna 10 years her senior Count Franz-Ernst von Harrach (1799-1884) and had with latter two sons - Johann von Harrach (1828-1909) and Alfred von Harrach (1831-1914). The family chiefly lived at the Castle Prugg in Bruck an der Leitha, Lower Austria (see our image nr.9). Anna died in age of 72, on October 25, 1881, at the also belonging to Harrachs Castle Aschach (Aschach an der Donau, Upper Austria, see our image nr.10).

August von Medvey was born in 1812 in Koszelow, Galicia (West Ukraine). After finishing his law studies at the University of Lemberg (now Lvov) Medvey attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts as student of Leopold Kupelwieser in 1834-1836. In 1840 the artist was active in Budapest, then returned to Lemberg, where he led an intensive artistic life. His oeuvre is evidently influenced by the famous miniaturist Moritz Michael Daffinger. In 1848 Medvey spent a short time in Paris and in 1850 followed an invitation to Russia. He stayed in Odessa until 1852, then went to Moscow and later to St. Petersburg, where he became royal painter in 1858. In 1862 the artist moved to Kharkov (Ukraine), where he lived until his death in 1870.
Medvey's works can be seen in various Russian museum collections.
