Monogrammed L.L., this miniature is an early work of well-known French female miniaturist Mlle Léonie Lesquyer. As we will see in latter's biography (see our image nr.15 with clips from Schidlof and Lemoine-Bouchard) she married in 1860 in Turin (sic!) artist Andrea Costaldi and settled forever in that city. We are sure she had connection to Savoya much earlier and repeatedly visited Turin being still unmarried (to see living in that city relatives?).
